Not that I know of. What would you expect to see if the debugger were "off but open"?
i might want to run a script that works but dont want to step through it, and dont want to close the window cause I'll need it again soon for a broken script. make any sense?
There's a couple of options that get close to what you want:
You can select the pause on error option in the debugger.
You can use the step out, and can set break points so that you can run a script through the debugger without pause until it reaches a breakpoint or throws an error code. (And you can use step out to run sub scripts without pause when you don't want to step through them.)
You could push the "run" green arrow to NOT step through a working script.
