If the column names in excel match your FileMaker field names you would create a script with a import records script step
set the target table to the table you want to import records into
set the import order to Matching Names.
They have different names.
you'll have to match the excel fields to the filemaker fields manually.
Thanks, I was afraid of that.
Thank you for your posts.
Yes, you can write a script that matches up the field names. However, you will initially need to match up the fields manually, but once you save that script, you can run it any time to import that file and the appropriate fields will be matched up correctly.
For example, if your Excel file is a contact list with columns:
and your database file has the fields:
... When you set up the script step "Import Records", you will need to specify the file and the import order. Under import order, this is where you match up the Excel Last field with FileMaker's Last Name field, First with First Name, Ad with Address, etc.
Save this, and when you execute this script, the data will be imported into the proper fields.
