      Script issue

      Post

      I have a script as follows

      Go to Layout "mgrstableview"(dataentry)]

      Enter find mode

      Set Field [dataentry::Case#; "A"]

      New Record/Request

      Set Fields [dataentry::Case#; "B"]

      New record/request

      Set fields [dataentry::Case#; "C"]

      Perform find [restore]

      constrain found set

      However it is returning case# to me that also start with "D" and "E" and I'm not asking for that. What am I doing wrong? Please give me a hand, oh and how can you copy and paste your script from filemaker into this box?

      Thank you

             Hi Thicks

          the script must show like this:

          Go to Layout "mgrstableview"(dataentry)]

          Enter find mode

          Set Field [dataentry::Case#; "A"]

          New Record/Request

          Set Fields [dataentry::Case#; "B"]

          New record/request

          Set fields [dataentry::Case#; "C"]

          Perform find [ ] -- NO RESTORE

              Perform find [ ]

              IOW: there must be nothing inside the square brackets

              If you want to do it in the simpler way, delete that step and place there a new one.

                Thicks:

                Thank you for your posts.

                Go into your script and select the "Perform Find [Restore] " script step.  At the bottom, just uncheck the option "Specify find requests" and the "Restore" option will disappear from the script step.

                What is occurring now in your script is restoring what find request you had previously, eliminating the three find requests you just created!  Does that make sense?
