You can use set variable to copy the value into a variable. After it leaves find mode, the script can then enter the value into a field if that is necessary.
The alternative you may want to consider is to have the data entered into a field with global storage specified and then it is automatically saved and available both while your script runs and afterwords. The script can take the data in the global field and use it as find criteria to perform a find with it.
