Aren't your donations in a seperate table?
Sum ( field1; field2; field3; field4; field5; field6 ) will sum up all these fields, but really you should have the donations in a seperate table. Then all you would need is Sum ( Donations:: DonationAmt )
the table approach sounds great just not sure how to approach it. If I have a contacts table which has the donation 1, donation 2 . . . thru 6 then I create a table labeled "donations" and what do I put in it? (duplicate all of the donation 1 thru 6)? And then connect the respective fields? Or do I create the new table with these fields in it and delete them from the original table. You can see I do not know how to approach this and if you don't mind outlining the procedure so that I can recreate it that would be great.
Yes you will want to have a related donations table that can be joined by ContactID.
Each new donation will be its own seperate record.
So, if you have a contact Bob that has 3 donations, there will be one record in Bob that stores Bob's information and then 3 records in donations with Bob's ID. So let's say Bob is ID 3, then it would be something like:
You would not store any donation amt in the contacts table.
Thanks, I'll have to stare at this for a while, and do some reading to see if I can make it work.
