      Title

      search and select

      Post

We have a casting database and want to do the following:

Search for instance all brown haired men and then select two of them.

Then we want to perform a second search on for instance women and select two of them.

Then we want to export these 4 selected people to PDF.

Above example is probably pretty simple and common, but I cannot find how to do this.

Please if anyone can explain.... I've called FILEMAKER in the USA, they said it was possible but could not explain a simple thing like this over the phone.

      Regards,

          Hi Mark,

This is one way assuming you have the fields for hair colour and sex (male/female):

          • Enter Find mode on the layout you want to save as PDF

          • Enter "brown" for hair colour and "male" (or "men") in the respective fields

          • Click the Find button

          • Omit (Records menu) the records that you do not want.

          • Enter Find mode again

          • Enter "brown" for hair colour and "female" (or "women") in the respective fields

          • Choose "Extend found set" from the Requests menu

          • Omit (Records menu) the records that you do not want.

          • Choose "Print" from the File menu and click the "Records being browsed" radio button

          • Choose "Save as PDF" from the PDF button
