I created a "search engine" like for a data base and I need your opinion....
I have a list of names on a table and need a box with auto-complete that takes you to the related record.
What I did is to create a new table with just one field to use as a global field, then created a relationship with the field containing the names to find.
Then I created a new layout based on the search table and created a drop box with auto-complete and using a list value based on the field containing the names in the original table.
Finally, created a simple script with go to the related record using the main layout.
So, is that a good way?
Thank you for reading.
It's one of two ways to do this. The other method is to set up the script to perform a find using the data in the drop down formatted field. Either works much the same so there isn't a strong arguement for one over the other.
