Select from ExecuteSQL
Writing a simple script to make a new record in a MySQL database - I want to run a SQL query and save the 1 result in a variable - how do you save the output from ExecuteSQL?
Fetching and acting are kind of a seperate thing in FileMaker when it comes to SQL. For example, using an Execute SQL with a SELECT statement really doesnt do much as there is nowhere to capture the return. You would have to use an Import with SQL statement instead to grab that data.
However, if you want to create a record, modify, etc, then one would use ExecuteSQL. Does this make sense?
If you have FM9+, a better option may be to use ESS as you can access the external data directly within FM.

SELECT MAX(Letter_ID) from emr_letters
