Set current printer in script step without Printer Setup Utility?

Post

We have a script that prints different documents from different printers, so we use an AppleScript step to set the printer, like so:

tell application "Printer Setup Utility"
Set the current printer to printer "PRINTER NAME"
end tell

However, the Printer Setup Utility is no longer available in Mavericks.

Our previous solution was "don't upgrade to Mavericks on the computer we print from", but since FMP 14 doesn't support OS X 10.8, we'll need to upgrade.

I'm having a hard time finding how to set the current printer in a script step (there are plenty of instructions on how to set the default printer with AppleScript but I don't think that does what I want). The three short lines above are about the extent of my AppleScript "expertise".

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance
