is there a command that will allow me to set a variable as the field name I am working in that the script is triggered from.
If the cursor is still in the field, set variable [$CurrentField ; value: Get ( ActiveFieldName ) ]
But in many cases you may also want to use Get ( activefieldtablename ) so that you can refer to both the table occurrence name and field name of the active field. There are also cases where it's easy to use GetFieldName to pass this info as a script parameter as an alternative method for this.
I thought this would do it but it didn't
Set Variable [$defnum; Value:defnum + 1]
Make it: Set Variable [$$defnum; Value: $$defnum + 1]
Variables with a single $ only persist as long as the script is executing. Two $$ make it a global variable and it's value will persist as long as the user has the file open.
That worked Great but one more thing Now Say I want to Set the Variable as The active Fields Value?
This Does not work
set variable [$Currentvalue ; value: Get ( ActiveFieldValue ) ]
Or even want the Script to trigger with an If Statement
If [(ActiveFieldValue) = "Fail"
I know ActiveFieldValue is not the correct line but I am wondering what is?
you'll find a list of all Get Functions in any Specify Calculation dialogue box..
Thank you for your help. That is just it though neither one of those commands are in my specify calculation dialogue box I don't know why its like I am missing half of my commands.
In the View drop down select "get functions" and you'll get a list of all the different get function options.
