Are you attemting to connect to the hosted database via WiFi on the same network or via 3g/4g/WiFi external to the local network?
Do you have the file open on your MacBook with FileMaker Pro?
Have you enabled Sharing for FileMaker and also for the file?
Via local WiFi, but would love over external. I do have it opened. I have it set to share fully with my username on my iPhone I believe:
- Under Accounts both accounts are checked
- I have under Privilege Sets both accounts (MacBook and iPhone) set to "Full Access"
- I have changed nothingunder both Extended Privileges and File Access
Open the file in Filemaker Pro and select Sharing | FileMaker Network....
What options have you selected there?
To gain access from outside the network, you'll need to research port forwarding for your internet router in order to correctly configure it to forward requests to your MacBook and you'll use the "external" ip address for your router to gain access to the database.
Network Sharing: ON
Specify Users by prevelege set and I specify the accounts.
As for the final thought. Ok. I will check port forwarding out.
Thank you so much!
Try, for testing purposes, changing that second option to "All users" and see if you can then gain access to the hosted file. If that works, it will tell you that you need to take a closer look at the privilege set option to see why it does not work.
iOS ver 6.12? on iPhone 5? FMGo ver 12?
Have you opened the sample databases or any database?
MacBook OSX ver 10.8.2? Filemaker version?
http://portforward.com is about setting your router to send requests to the correct computer.
Google "iwp portforward site:forums.filemaker.com" https://www.google.com/search?q=iwp+portforward+site%3Aforums.filemaker.com
Once I click on the host it gives me nothing even with all users chosen. I am sure it has something to do with my router settings.
I am using an iPhone 4 v. 6.1.2 and FileMaker Fo 11.0.2
Also make sure that your copy of FileMaker Pro is compatible with your copy of FM Go. If you have FileMaker 11 or older on you MacBook and downloaded the free version of FileMaker Go, the two will not be compatible. The Free version only opens Filemaker 12 files. To access older versions of Pro, you have the purchase the FM Go for FileMaker 11 version. (And this version cannot access FM Pro 12...)
Thanks guys! I got it working now on to try to get it working with port forwarding.
