shell script help... Filemaker related but more Applescript, really...
I have a file type called ALE that I work with regularly. It's basically a tab delimited file, but it has a few annoying headers. I have an applescript that can work on a single file using TextWrangler to remove the offending information, but I'd love something slicker. It strikes me that a shell script command like sed could do the job, but I don't have enough experience and since the text contains hard returns I need a bit of extra help. Anyone?
The enclosed screen shot shows the file prior to "clean up" I want to lose lines 1 thru and including 7 and line 9, thus turning it into an absolutely normal file of tab delimited data with header info. the symbols at the end of the line are TextWrangler's way of showing returns. The Triangles are tabs.
I hope to end up with an apple scriptlet that I can drop any number of these files on and have them automatically altered.
Thanks in advance for anyone who wants to take this on.
