Select "container as the calculation field's result type.
You can also put a green "tick" and a red "X" on your layout as layout text using a "dingbat" font for the tick mark character. Then conditional formatting can make the appropriate character appear and disappear.

There is no script in my answer. What I posted would be a calculation field you would add to the same table as the DoXYZfield. The alternative approach, which might or might not work for you, is to use layout text with conditional formatting--and this also does not use a script.
Gotcha - I dont seem to have that font available so rather than trying to find it I think I will try to use the table approach. I appreciate your quick response and will report back with the results!
