If you were just displaying data from the related tables, a portal filter that replicates the criteria of your find might be an option, but since you need to summarize data from the related tables, that's not an option.
If you have FileMaker 12, you might look into the execute SQL function as an alternative to your portals.
Otherwise I think you'll need that table where you can add summary fields so that you can then make use of a filtered portal.
Thanks for the ExecuteSQL Function idea. I have tried so many different ways to show this data. I am converting an Access 2005 DB front end to a FileMaker front end for SQL Server 2005 Express.
I have found some websites on ExecuteSQL for FM 12, but do you have any recommendations?
I think I oversold FileMaker and it's abilities pairing up with SQL Server. I worked on the Access database last year and it will find the needed data in seconds. But it's Access, that if you rename one field or query, the program crashes and burns.
