Title

Snapshot Link converts DNS name to IP address

Post

I'm accessing a hosted database using a favorite that points to a DNS name. I've created a Snapshot Link and emailed it to a user who is outside our LAN. The link contains the IP address of the server instead of its DNS name, which makes the link fail for the user outside our LAN.

If the link had preserved the DNS name of the server, the link would have worked for this WAN user, as the same DNS name works inside our LAN as well as from the WAN.

Is this by design, or a bug?
