Solved: Delete portal row
I've added a picture as a button to delete a portal row but instead the dialogue pops up asking if I want to delete a record. I've obviously misse a subtlety?!
And what happens if you go ahead and delete it?
Each portal row IS a record in a related table and deleting a portal row does delete the record in that table.
But make sure that you button is set up to either Delete Portal Row or perform a script with the delete portal row script step.
Hmm! It does as expected.
Problem was the first time I set up to delete a record and it did, but deleting a row gets the same warning dialogue so I didn't chance it. Sorry, should have experimented further.
I use a script for deleting portal rows that highlights the portal row and uses show custom dialog to ask for confirmation--displaying data from the portal row to be deleted. And it's a script that I can use for deleting any portal row from any layout in my database. The secret is in the data passed to it as a script parameter.
The script can be imported error free from the Known Bugs List Database if you are interested.
Thank you. I will look.
I'm looking in the menu list but can't find anything as obvious as 'Delete Row'. What is the name?
also be sure to place your button within the portal, and read the 'Are You sure' message - It will either say '....delete the entire record...' or '...delete the related record...'
It's named Delete Portal Row and is located in the Utility Scripts folder. Open Manage Scripts so that you see all the scripts listed.
