Sort Problem:  Serial Numbers Not in Consecutive Order

Hello.  I'm using FM Pro Advanced 11.0v1 and have a problem sorting.  I was hoping I could get some assistance, with this, please.

My database is a very simple flat-file movie collection database, with a serial number field.  The serial number is set to auto-enter.  There are currently 344 entries.

When I perform a sort via Serial Number, the database is not sorted in consecutive order.  It doesn't go 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

Instead, it goes as follows:

1, 10, 100, 101, 104, 105, etc.  (I'm assuming there is no 102 and 103 because I must have deleted those records from the database…but I really don't remember.)

The last entry in the sorted list is 99!

Is there a way to set up the database so that the sort goes in correct consecutive order, i.e. 1, 2, 3…340, 341, 342, 343, 344?

If so, what is the procedure?  Do I have to revise the actual records or fields in any way to achieve this sort?

Thank you very much!   J. Danniel
