In the Import dialog box, the field names will be listed by the "last order". If you want the fields listed alphabetically, click on the pop-up where it says "Arrange by:" in the middle of the Import Field Mapping dialog box, and change it to "field names".
Thanks. I know that I can choose the ‘field names’ from the drop down menu in the import window, it alphabetize only the target field names. I wanted to sort the “source file’ filed names alphabetically so I can easily move the target fields to match the source file field names. As you know only the target filed names can be moved up or down to match and the source file field names are anchored. The number of fields exceeds over 80 in my case and when one gets to the top of bottom of the small window that one has to work with, there is a big jump and it has not been easy control moving all the fields up and down from beginning to end.
This import dialog is known as the most annoying for hundreds of years :)
The best you can do is organizing your field names in a way, that you can apply 'matching names' option.
