Starter solutions are template files stored in a system folder. When you select this option, FileMaker makes a new copy of that template--not the file you have modified. To make a new copy of your modified file, you'd either close the file and use your operating system to make a copy of this file like you would any other file on your computer or, with the file open, use Save a copy as from the file menu to save a copy of your file.
Thanks... This was my first attempt but the "Save As A Copy" function is greyed out...
Did you have your copy of the file open or just the FileMaker Pro application? This option shouldn't be greyed out if you have the file open unless it is hosted from FileMaker server.
Save a copy as... will be greyed out if it is a file that is hosted from Filemaker Server. If that's the case, you'd have to take the file down off the server to make a copy of it or use a Server Backup schedule to copy it.
You really don't want to have just one copy of any filemaker file you are working with, the more back up copies you make the better!
