      Subsummary Reports in IWP

      Post

I created a report of all my products broken out by type.  In FilmMaker Preview mode it looks exactly how I want.  The problem is this report needs to be view on the web and preview mode is not supported.  If I use list view then you can't see the subsummary and all you have is a list of products.  If I use form view then I can see the type but I have to click through to view each product.  How can I get the report to look like it does in preview mode with IWP?

          Thank you for your post.

Dynamic subsummary parts do not appear in Instant Web Publishing.  Any Summary layout parts are not supported and should be removed from layouts used with Instant Web Publishing.

You may want to consider writing a script that takes the summarized data and places the information into another table.  You can then view this information in another layout.

Thanks for the reply, it helped with some of my more complicated reports.  I have a simple report that I think probably can be displayed how I want in browse mode but I'm not sure how.  The report does not contain any summary fields, I just want to see the product type aka my break field in list view.  This report is static not dynamic.

I want it to look like this:

            Type 1

                    Product 1

                    Product 2

                    Product 3

            Type 2

                    Product 4

                    Product 5

But it looks like this instead:

            Product 1

            Product 2

            Product 3

            Product 4

            Product 5

Is there a way to view a report like this in browse mode? Or is it only possible in preview.  Because if I can get it to look like this in browse mode then it will go on the internet.

Thank you for the additional information.

In order for Type 1 and Type 2 once would require a sub-summary part, which cannot be displayed in Instant Web Publishing.

Instead, create another table and write a script that will take the information from your original layout and put the summarized information into the other table for displaying purposes.

Your script may look something like:

              Go to Layout [ <original layout> ]

Sort Records [ No dialog ; Restore ]

Go to Record [ First ]

              Set Variable [ $sub ; "" ]

              Loop

                 If [ $sub ≠ <Type field> ]

                    Set Variable [ $sub ; <Type field> ]

                    Go to Layout [ <new table layout> ]

                    New Record/Request

                    Set Field [ <new field> ; $sub ]

                 End If

                 Set Variable [ $field ; <Product field> ]

                 Go to Layout [ <new table layout> ]

                 New Record/Request

                 Set Field [ <new field> ; $field ]

                 Go to Layout [ <original layout> ]

Go to Record/Request/Page [Next ; Exit after last ]

              End Loop

              -----------

This just grabs the information from the original table and puts it into the new table for display purposes.  If you have any questions about the logic, please let me know.

Thanks so much, I think I can play with that and make it work.  You rock!

                  Hi,
Would something like this work for a report that contains large fields that are set to slide up?

I have a report that looks great in 'Preview Mode' but lousy in IWP and FM Go...

                  Thanks
                  Brian.
