Summary 'Total' Label
The Grand Total and Summary Total 'Total' Labels are forcing columns to be wider than needed.
Can I get rid of the 'Total' Label or avoid the problem?
Probably, but we have no idea what database design you are using. Might this be from a starter solution or is it a deisgn of your own? How is the layout designed? Is it displaying data in list view, table view or forum view?
Mac, FM11, Own Design Personal / Small Business DB, Simple 2 page list of records for printing, 3 Sub Totals and 1 Grand Total, Table View but could set up in List View.
In list view, you can use layout text to label your fields and this would give you the option of using a more succinct label for your field. You can also but the totals in grand summary or sub summary layout parts for greater reporting flexibility. (You usually don't need the total visible in it's own column unless it is a running total that changes with every record.)
Thanks for that.
Is it impossible to get rid of 'Total' in Table View?
I have another list which I don't have to print but it would be nice to see figures instead of 'Total', without widening the columns.
It's a built in "feature" of using summary fields in table views.
Personally, I rarely use table view except as a "debug view" of data for diagnosing problems with the design and function of the data. It's got some nice features, but I have better control over what the user can and cannot see by using list view.
Pity but thanks.
