The limit of five connections is only for Web Publishing. For a database, the limit is 10 users (1 local and 9 remote).
When do you receive this message?
I have one small DB shared with a single computer which is shared according to
instructions on the forum.
The the second PC tried to open 'remote' - thats when I get the message!
cpcm is using FM8.5 which only allows up to 5. I believe that it was upped to 10 with FM9.
I have tried switching off firewalls, temp disabling Kasperksy AV to no avail!
Make sure you are using two different license keys for FileMaker Pro. Pull down the FileMaker Pro menu and select "About FileMaker Pro...". Either the License Key will be listed here, or you may have to press "Info". If the license keys are the same, then you should receive an error that the License Key is already in use. I doubt this is the problem, but I wanted to mention it in case this was the underlying issue.
Do all shared files appear when you select "Open Remote..." from the second computer?
From the second machine, create a new database file, turn on Network Sharing, and set sharing access to "All Users". Now, from the first machine, pull down the file menu and select "Open Remote...". Are you able to open the file?

Lastly, I have done exactly as you describe. I can do it for a new DB but I have this strong suspiscion
the result will be the same. I'll let you know when i hve tested that!
Same. I am wondering if its anything to do with the IP filtering used by Kaspersky?
Would be useful to know if anyone else is doing FMP shares with KIS installed?
Problem is of course to test that theory I have to completely remove it!
