Is this a single file being opened or are there more than one being opened when you launch this database.
Are there any graphics on your layout that were inserted with the "store by reference" option? (Enter layout mode and see what you can find about graphic layout objects linked from external files...)
Simply copy and pasting objects from another FileMaker file won't build a link to that file, but if one of the objects pasted was one of these "by reference" objects, then you might get this dialog.
Any by reference container fields on your layout that can no longer find the referenced file?
Any web viewer used to display the contents of a PDF or image file that can't find the file?
There are other files that are also being opened when I open this file -one file for layouts, scripts, value lists etc. and then other files for records
However, the files that come up in the dialog are not the ones that are opened and managed in External Data Sources, they're files that we're used in the other files that I copied and pasted layout objects from.
I'm not sure about the "store by reference" graphic objects but I'll check it out..
also I'll check the container fields..
If you have multiple files open, any one of them might be trying to open a file that it can't find. Make sure that you check manage | external data sources on every file.
doesn't seem to be any graphics or container fields..
the odd thing is that this only started happening after I relocated the other files that are opened into a folder and changed their paths in External Data Sources...
okay, I'll check the other files too..
That worked!! A couple of the other files somehow had old file references.
Thanks a ton!
