Are you sure that you sorted your records by Name?
When I created a file to test this, I only saw the Trailing Grand Summary until I sorted the records by the break field. Then the Print Below Sub Summary displayed as expected in browse mode.
Compare to this demo file and see if you spot anything different: http://www.4shared.com/file/rlQcTGDe/SIngleGroup_SubSummaryTest.html
Yes, I sorted by Name. Problem arises when only one Name appears in found set. For example the following found records give only the trailing grand summary:
But these found records (when sorted by Name):
Name 2 Number 6
Gives proper sub summary (plus trailing grand summary):
Try the demo file and see if it shows the trailing grand summary. It matches your first example exactly, but shows the trailing grand summary on my machine. See if you can spot anything different in how it is set up.
I tried your demo file and it works fine. I checked all the parts of my layout and believe they are set up exactly like yours. I guess I'll try a new layout starting from scratch.
In fiddling around with this I found that in browse mode, if you have only one Name in the found set, when you switch to the subsummary layout, the subsummary will not be visible unless you switch to "View As One Record" on the subsummary layout bar. In browse mode, when I switch from the found set in table view to the subsummary layout, List View is the default. Does not seem intuitive.
Your demo file switched to View As One Record no problem. Can this default behavior be set outside of writing a script?
So guess the problem went away.
You can set view options in Layout Setup... to restrict a layout to a specific view.
The view options are: View as Form, View as List and View as Table. Summary reports must be viewed in View as List mode. I must assume that what you are calling "view as one record" is the View as List option here.
