The Known Bug List contains a startup script that detects whether or not the file is being opened on an iPhone or another device. You can examine it to see a working copy of this method. (It even distinguishes between those with FileMaker Go 13 and earlier versions of Go so that users with earlier Go versions don't see a layout that uses a popover.)
If [ Let ( v = Get ( ApplicationVersion ) ; PatternCount ( v ; "Go" ) and not PatternCount ( v ; "iPad" ) ) // FileMaker iPhone User ]
Go to Layout ["iphone layout here" (table) ]
Else IF [ Let ( v = Get ( ApplicationVersion ) ; PatternCount ( v ; "Go" ) and PatternCount ( v ; "iPad" ) ) // FileMaker iPad User ]
Go to Layout ["iPad layout here" (table) ]
Go to layout ["FMP Pro layout here" (table) ]
That is what i was looking for and to be honest i am very new to file maker scripting. Where exactly do I place this script? on the layout? or ?
It's a script in Manage | Scripts created in the script editor. (Click New)
The key question is when do you execute this script? If you want this as the first thing that takes place when the file is opened, you go to File Options in the file menu and set up the OnFirstWindowOpen trigger to perform your script.
That is exactly what i want to do thanks
