Thank you. I would like to utilize the If/Then method as follows:
If [ not IsEmpty ( pkChildID ) ]
Go to Related Records [Child]
Show Custom Dialog [ "No Related Records" ]
However, I am pretty new to FileMaker and definitely not a programmer. Could you explain what "pkChildID" represents? Thank you!
Also, sometimes there will be related records, but I only want the button to work if there are related records with one specific field empty.
I figured the ID, so please ignore that question. =) However, maybe you could help me write some script for If the Found Set = 0, then .... I know I've seen this, just can't remember how .... I will keep looking. Thanks!
I really should try harder before posting these questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
I managed to get a If Get Found Count script to work, but was wondering about placement. I tell it to find all related records that have that specific empty field, then the If Get Found Count > 0 runs and works okay, except that it first pops up with the standard "no records match this set of find requests" message. At this point, if you choose "continue", the script moves on, but if you say "modify", it doesn't. Is there any way to remove that message? In other words, I don't want the user to be able to modify the find.
Try turning on the Error Capture.
Oh, wow. Seems like that is something I should have known long before building a big complex multi-user database. =) I feel so silly.
