What are you trying to import? They look like various formats (rich text, pdf) of a WP document designed to be read.
Yeah there are various file formats - I would like to import the data into FMP to use in a table - each of the codes and descriptions in the document would comprise a list of a drop down filed or similar.
You know the documents - are there any that are in a spreadsheet-like form, ie: columns of data, where each row is a record for your FM database, and each column is a filed in that DB?
Hi Sorbsbuster - unfortunately it doesn't seem to be in that form, which would make it easy. I've tried downloading all the variations and importing them, but with no luck.
If you can down load this as a word document, you can open it in word and then save it as text. You can then import the data as a tab delimitted file. The result could be very messy, but it's not impossible to then use a script to loop through the multiple imported records and extract the desired data into tables where you want the final data.
Thanks Phil - works well except like you said, it's messy. How do you "use a script to loop through the records"?
Basic loop structure is to do this:
Import Records // import sets up a found set of just the records imported
Go To Record [first]
//parse your data here
Go To Record/request/page [next ; exit after last]
The trick is in creating the code to extract the data into a different table or tables one record at a time.
