TSGal that posted the answer to that question on the Go Forum is a Tech Support employee of FMI, so your question would be best answered by her. TSGal is prompt on answering question, she does have to go home at the end of the day.
FMI does not make the rules for Apple App Store. Apple make those Guide Lines. My best guess is because of security risk. If a executable could run another executable then a hacker could install a program on your device, to rename your file, copy a Trojan horse program in its place, steal your information, delete itself, and then move your file back into place. There are many things that could happen to your device if it was allowed. You would never knew it happen.
OMG. Yea filemaker go is not quite ready for prime time deployment.
Thanks for your comments
Does anyone know if apple will let me build a simple iphone app that has a icon ...Response By Email (James Parker) (Mar 04, 2015 03:31 PM PST)Hello Michael,
Thank you for contacting FileMaker Customer Support.
After researching via Google it does appear that Apple will allow Applications to launch/interact with other Applications. You may wish to discuss or post this question to other developers on our FileMaker Forum or FileMaker Community to see if any have suggestions or experience with this type of development.

I have already answer your question on the FMGo forum. You have to use the App Maker database or the Apple Configurator which comes with Yosemite. Both methods create a profile file to be email to your device. This profile file will create an icon that will launch FMGo and run your database.
Making a icon with a fmp launch URL was never ever the question
I want to build a simple native iPhone app that could be downloaded from the Apple App Store to launch filemaker go
Your post as it is posted on the FMGo forum. I just used copy and paste.
"Hello, does any one in the FM world know If I can make a simple iphone app

This question ask if you can make a simple iphone app and all it does is launch filemaker with the url, so yes that is what that statement means. I want an icon to launch FMGo with the url of your database.
I stand corrected the subject cut off the last of the question. As you mentioned Apple says no. All I can say is filemaker is good for rapid development building a nice work flow for a native iPhone all is not lost by far. FileMaker Go is not easy to deploy to the world. That's for sure.
Thank You for all your help.
I agree that Filemaker Go needs more improvement, and I think it will get there, it just going to take some time. FM came out in the 80 and FMGo just came out in 2010. I know that a long time in the computer world but it coming alone slowly. I'm hoping FM will put the ability in FMP to create a runtime for the ios devices, but it just not here yet.
I agree FM has vastly improved I was around in version 6. Saw the vast improvement to 7. Then 11 then 12. I'm having to move away. Not too excited about moving. But I gotta
Thank You again. I own 4 copies of FM Pro Advanced 13. One more and I'd get a set of Steak Knives.
