Just curious. Does FM .v3 still open in Lion but will not upgrade to .v4 or does it not recognize FM being installed at all?
I'm currently running Snow Leopard but successfully upgraded to .v4 a few days ago. I was thinking of upgrading to Lion this afternoon but your post caught my attention.
v3 runs with no problem. it's the updater that is giving me trouble.
You probably saw this but just in case, check this out:
I decided to go ahead and upgrade to Lion on my Laptop with FM 11 Adv.
When I booted for the first time in Lion, and launched FM 11 Adv, it prompted me that I needed Java and then proceeded to download.
After that, FM up and running. (I think our major difference is I was already running .v4 in Snow Leopard before upgrading to Lion.)
Hope everything gets straightened out for you.
You have the opposite problem.
Make sure "spotlight" is enabled. For More Information see: FileMaker 11.0v2 Mac updater fails
This is one of many acknowledged bugs that can be found in the Known Bug List here in the Report an Issue section of the forum.
It can also be downloaded as a database file from: http://www.4shared.com/file/8orL8apk/FMP_Bugs.html
Thanks so much, Phil! I did try to search the forums, but apparently i'm not good at it. Thanks for stepping in on something that was so thoroughly treated elsewhere.
Last week I was having Spotlight problems with "endless indexing," and I turned Spotlight off so i could get some work done. It was particularly crippling to my Parallels VM. Oops!
Actually, I rarely search the forums myself. If you look at my previous post, you'll find that I maintain a database of issues like this as it is much easier to search than this forum.
I am also having the same problem with Updater .v4 recognizing my .v3 install. I did check my spotlight settings, they are correct (application folder checked, nothing listed under privacy). I m running Lion 10.7.1. Any suggestions will be welcomed.
