Use selected language to pull appropriate data into other fields... How?

      Post

      Hi.

Database with 200 clients, in three different languages.  Intend to make a "Terms & Conditions sheet" with terms applicable to the client.  Select appropriate language with radio button set in this Client table.

In related table "Terms_Conditions" there are various fields in three different languages, such as payment conditions in English, in German, etc.

Selecting for instance English (radio button) in Client table should pull the right translation, in other words: the contents of several other fields should then be in English.

Example: Customer John Doe -- English language --> trigger data in fields "Payment conditions" and "Validity of Terms" in English.

Client Fritz Schmidt -- German language --> trigger data in fields "Payment conditions" and "Validity of Terms" in German.

      How to do this?

Thank you for your time and your patience.

If all the languages you need to select for can use the same font:

Set up a Terms and Conditions table with one record for each language. Add a field that identifies the language for each record. Define a relationship between that field and your radio button field. If the data is only for display purposes, you can then just add the fields from this related table to your layout and they will display text in different languages when you click the radio button. If the data will then be edited by the user, an auto-enter field option--either a calculation or a looked up value setting--can copy the data into text fields in the current record of the other field.

If one or more of the languages requires a different font:

A conditional format expression can use the value of the radio button field to specify the font appropriate for the language.

For some languages, the display needs of that specific language may keep this from working acceptably. If so, you might need a script that changes layouts to language specific layouts when the radio button is clicked. The OnObjectModify script trigger makes a good choice for performing such a script when a radio button is clicked.

Thank you so much, I'm gonna try to follow your advise but it may be a few days before I can report back 'mission accomplished'.  Thank you again.
