Using a Conditional Value List that can be edited from pop-up menu?

      Post

      Hello everyone!

I'm making a catalogue of items in FileMaker Pro 11.  Each item has a Category and a Subcategory.  I followed the wonderful tutorial below so that when choosing a subcategory you can only pick ones related to the main category, using a separate table of categories/subcategories and a Conditional Value List.

      Tutorial: http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5833

My problem now is that I want to make an easy way to add a new Category/Subcategory when creating a new item.  In the "data" tab of the inspector, I can choose "Allow entry of other values", which places an option called "other..." in the drop-down menu.  Selecting it creates a pop-up where you can enter a custom value.  The problem with this is that it saves the new category/subcategory pair to the item, but doesn't create the new pair in the Category table, allowing me to use it again.

Is there a way I can still have this "other..." option in my drop-down list but in a way that the category/subcategory stays as an option for future items?

Thanks in advance for your help.
