I have pulled data from one table to display in another via a portal field. The portal is displaying a Unique No as well as other data. I would like to set up a button on the Unique ID field to return to the parent table and allow me to view the additional information on that record.
Go To Related Record [Show only related records; From table: PortalTable ; Using layout: "PortalTable" (PortalTable) ]
Substitute the name of your table and "detail view" layout for PortalTable in the above script step.
I've tried this but only takes me to the new layout. Screen Shot 2013-03-18 at 23.09.26 shows the unique no.
I have set this as a button to run a script, screen shot 2013-03-18 at 23.09.03 which takes me to the correct layout, but not the correct record.
Screen SHot 2013-03-18 at 23.41.03 show the layout table I'm after, but not the correct record (from 1st screen shot I click on unnique no 37, run the script and end up at record with unique no 35)
Your assistance is very much appreciated. Do you have any other suggestions ?
I've tried sending 3 screens shots at onec but it seems it won't let me. additional screenshots to follow

Go To Related Record is made to order for what you have requested.
I don't see any use of Go To Related Record in the script of which you posted a screen shot.
Go to Related Record will take you to the layout you specify via the relationship you specify. The relationship should be the name of your portal's Table Occurrence. The layout needs to be based on the same table.
WHen you also specify the "show only related records", this produces a found set of the same records shown in the portal and the record whose portal row was clicked will be the current record.
Go To Related record can do this by changing layouts in the current window or it can use the new window option to bring up the specified layout and record(s) in a new window.
Thanks for that but it still fails. It past minight in the UK so I'll try again tomorrow.
If it fails, you do not have something set up correctly or a trigger performed script is interfering. This is a very simple method that I have used in many different database files.
Feel free to post the exact script with Go To Related Records that you are using and please indicate how it fails as that can provide useful clues in many cases as to why it is failiing.
Thanks for posting again.
I confirmed the unique record no was being read by using get(activefieldcontents). From this I created a set variable to capture this value and ran a find query, and it works!!
May not be the most elegant solution but being a novice I rejoice in every victory.
Thanks very much for your help, so far 2 questions posted and great help provided.
