Using FM Pro with in house software

      Post

I routinely write small applications for my department. I am currently working on several that require a database. My question is if there will only be one location for the database, but is accessed by several different computers, will a single license/purchase be sufficient?

      Thanks,

      Jeff

FileMaker can be its own server and can host 5 Users but each User must have FMP installed and must have licensed copy.  Do not put FM on a network share or it will destroy your data; dedicate a machine to serve your files out.  If you do this, use a high-quality server box (check specs on FM's website).

Ideally, you should purchase FMS (server) which offers added protections (regular backups, administration etc) and allows for more than 5 Users.
