      Using Lookup function with Auto Complete enabled not working

      I have a very simple expense database which uses one field (Short Description) to populate a related field (Description) through Lookup. If I create a new record, enter something new into the Short Description, and then create a related record via the portal the Lookup works; it populates the related record's Description with the Short Description from the Expense record. If, however, I create a new record, start typing in the Short Description and see that there is a previous Auto Complete entry applicable and select it, when I create a related record in the portal the Lookup fails* -- it leaves the field blank. Not sure if this is a glitch or I'm just holding it wrong. Any thoughts?

       

       

      *If I create a second related portal record, however, the lookup succeeds...
