There are several ways to get " to be treated as characters instead of the beginning and end of literal text. One method I prefer in many situations is to use the Quote function. If global field 1 contains Apple, Quote ( Table::Global field 1 ) will return "Apple".
You can also precede the " with a backslash such as "\"" & Table::Global field 1 & "\"" , but using the Quote function results in a slightly easier to read expression IMO.
Thanks for that, makes perfect sense. the quote function is much better - otherwise the calculation starts looking like morse code.
