      Title

V12 Import only importing some fields... huh?

      Post

I have two versions of the same program... mostly cosmetic differences.  The two versions are .988 and .987

The fields I am trying to import are in the DUES layout and show in the Dues Portal on the Members Layout.

In the .jpg below, on the left is v988 on the right v 987.  Below is the import  "_Dues"  988 layout that shows the 6 fields in question.

The 'red' fields will not import.  The green fields DO import.

The fields are common to both versions.  The script that goes to the layout is simple.  It just goes to the layout.  Deletes everything and than imports everything from 987.

What would be a cause of some fields importing and some NOT importing (all fields are common to both versions)??

           Thanks

Either the fields were not mapped during import, they come from a different table than a table that was selected during the import or a change in your imported data occurred due to enabling auto-enter operations during the import.

Filemaker imports into one table at a time, a layout with records from the target table should be selected.

Multiple imports may be needed if the imported data is contained in multiple tables.

Calculated fields and Summary fields are not imported.

Note  Data from a source field will not import when:

The source field is not aligned with a target field. Drag a target field to align with each source field you want to import. Create a new target field if necessary.

The arrow symbol with a red X through it symbol appears between the source and target fields, which indicates that the target field type does not support the source field data. You cannot import data into calculation or summary fields, or import some mismatched data types such as container data into a text field. (The arrow symbol with a red X through it symbol may also indicate that access privileges do not permit importing data into a particular target field.)

When importing folders Some items are not imported:
Windows: FileMaker Pro does not import files or from folders that are hidden, offline, system, or temporary.
Mac OS: FileMaker Pro does not import invisible files or from folders that are invisible.

Right Phil.  I had added, a while back, the unresponsive fields and failed to update both the layout used and the mapping.  Thank you.
