either a value is in the value list, then it is selectable.
or it is not in the value list, then it is not selectable.
You should suggest such a feature (like the .Enabled from the c#.net world) to filemaker for version 11, i also am waiting for such a feature.
greetings from germany
Thank you for your post.
At this time, you cannot set a value list to have entries that are not selectable. I encourage you to enter this information into our Feature Suggestion web form at:
Although I could copy your post and paste it into the web form, there are additional questions asked that only you can answer.
When entering the suggestion, please explain why you want this feature added. The members of Development and Product Management that read these suggestions tend to like real-life examples, as this helps them understand why a feature is needed.
Thanks, I filled out the form.
As a work around, you might choose to list your values in a portal and format each row as a button with a script to enter the clicked value into the desired field. Since you are now scripting this you can set your script up to ignore clicks on specific "header" rows in your portal. The downside, of course is the scripting effort needed and the extra space on your layout that is now taken up by a portal.
