virtual freezer database for labs

I am setting up the lab freezer database using file maker pro. I would like to know if it is possible to create a virtual freezer, with racks and boxes so that when you click on the rack for example you can see all the boxes with their respective location within the rack and content and also add new boxes, update the content etc. I have made a database (as inventory) where we can manually enter all the information about the racks/boxes and their contents but it would be great to have a virtual freezer instead so that users would just click on the location instead of having to enterall this info.

Do you work in a lab and have such a database format that I could look at?
