Do you have two separate FileMaker files or are these two tables in the same file?
Right now I have it set up so all of their information will populate from the customer database if I type in their unique filemaker ID number
You shouldn't have to remember ID numbers, there are many ways to use a value list, scripts or even a portal such that you only enter a portion of the cutsomer's name to get the ID number, but this indicates that you have a relationship between two tables, one for Customers and one for Quotes.
If so, the Go to Related Records script step can be used to pull up all the quotes records for the current cutsomer record if initiated from a layout based on Customers.
Yes, I mean tables.
So I tried going to button setup --> go to related record --> get related record from (customer_fields) but when I drop down the menu for show record using layout my quotes layout is not an option. Is there a relationship I have to make first?
Thanks so much for your help!
You need to specify the quotes table in the GTRR step:
Go To Related Record [Show only related records; From table: Quotes ; Using layout: "Quotes" (Quotes) ]
If you can enter an ID number to get data from clients to appear on your quotes layout, you already have the relationship that you need.
I changed all of that, but my button doesn't do anything when I hit it. It just stays on my customer page... I'll keep trying to work at it. Thanks for your help!
Got it to work! I had acidently added another relationship to that group earlier and it stopped working the way I needed it to. Thank you!
