### Title

where excactly do the spaces and ";" go in the specify calculations window?

### Post

I know this is a simple problem. I read the manual (obviously not well enough). I watched a video on aggragate functions. It seams that everyone supposes you already understand how to put together functions.

I simply want to multiply "*" the hours field with the pay rate field and show the total at the end of each list. I tried- Sum ( Hours; * ; Pay Rate ) but it comes back and says that I need to place a name field or "(" in the place. I am not sure where the exact location and space bar and so on are suppose to be. I used the calculations field.

Thank you for your help.

All you will need is calculation (result is number) called cAmount : Hours * Pay Rate

... and it would apply that calculation to every record. If you wish to add together the cAmount field for all of your records, you can use Sum() or use a summary field (you can read up on them in Help). If this is what you want, and Help isn't (smile), let us know and we will be happy to walk you through how best to summarize over a group of records. :smileyhappy:
