ok, feature request submitted! Does this mean I might have to buy Version 15 as well????
You could replicate the book icon by copying the image and placing buttons with previous and next record scripts. The slider would be a little trickier...
yes, looked at doing that, but the book would not be interactive as in FM (hmm, maybe it could be) and the slider
is obviously very handy indeed.
Thanks for the reply.
With a little work, you could replicate the slider.
Lots of 1 pixel x 3 pixel lines smooshed up next to each other made into buttons that perform a script like:
GoToRecordNumber ( Integer ( Get ( FoundCount ) / 100 * Get ( ScriptParameter ) ) )
with each line having a progressively bigger script parameter from 1 to 100.
Better yet, you can have each button display a tooltip with the, say, Name of the record (if you're on a table of people). Of course, this really only helps if the person has the records sorted alphabetically (which is why I deleted my bar like this), but it's still kinda cool.
Thanks for your comments, and I'm glad you entered your suggestions into the feature request form on our web site.
From your initial posting, one item was stuck in the back of my head, "
yes, I meant my own icons.
If you have several icons for your own stuff, it would be nice to be able to arrange them onto the Status Area in Browse mode. If I drag all the filemaker icons off, the advantage of having the record book icon, record count and scroller all the way to the left if heavily offset by the fact that I have a deep, gray, empty bar right along the top of my solution.
Getting the book icon etc as a movable object would actually serve better.
Thaanks for the consideration though.
