Why does Omit cause records to shift in window?

Post

In FileMaker 10 when I omit a record from a list the next record gets selected but it jumps to the bottom of the window automatically causing me to lose my place.  This happens whether the list is sorted or unsorted and it did not happen in FileMaker 9 (In FMP 9 the records below the omitted one simply shifted up 1 spot). Why does this happen and is there any way to prevent it?
