      Wildcard PatternCount search

      Post

                Good morning. I have a global field that gets information from web source code. Would someone know how to find the following test string in a PatternCount script step it the numbers are different in every reocord?

                "ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1/111-11111111-1111111>"

                I have tried

                "ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_#/###-########-#######>"

                but that returns nothing.Same result with

                "ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_*>"

                The web page does have characters like * and # . And I notice when I do a search with any kind of wildcard character it returns nothing. Thanks

                 Wildcards are not supported by the PatternCount function.

                 You could use:

                 PattternCount ( yourText ; "ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_" )

                 But that won't work if there are instances of ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_ that do not have the number and that thus need to be excluded from the count.

                 If you have FileMaker Advanced, you might search one of the custom function web sites to find a custom function you can add that provides the text searching capabilities that you want.
