Working with fields with repetitions.

Title

Working with fields with repetitions.

Post

Let's put a golfing spin on this.  Suppose we are trying to decide whether or not a golf course is handicapped correctly.  We have a field, call it PAR.  We have 18 repetitions assigned to this field to cover the 18 holes.

A second field we'll call ACTUAL.  Again we have 18 repetitions.  Into this field we will put the average score of several hundred golfers who have played the course.  This work has been done for us elsewhere.

Now we want to do the following for each hole.  (ACTUAL-PAR)/PAR  which will give us the percentage that each hole is playing over par.

The question is, can this be done with a third field, say PCTOVER again with 18 repetitions or do I need 18 different fields?

So far, I can't find a way to use a field with repetitions to do this.  I thought the SUM function might work, but so far no go.

Repeating fields aren't necessarily the best way to handle this data, but in a calculation field, you could use this expression:

( Actual - Par ) / Par

And specify 18 repetitions in the lower left corner of the specify calculation dialog.

Duh, I should have thought about that.
