<> leftbracket leftbracket FieldName rightbracket rightbracket (forum code problem) assuming there is such a field would work. A script and a global field with such a name would work.
I'll have to research global fields and try to figure a way to get that term in the layout, Maybe in my reporting script I could copy the script name and paste it into the global field or maybe just a text block.
Try this in your script:
Set Variable [ $$ReportHeader ; Value: Get ( ScriptName ) ]
Then use the layout text tool to put this in the report header:
PS. your script name suggests that you may have a number of scripts that do essentially the same thing, but with small differences. If so, you may want to also research how script parameters can be used so that you have one script for many buttons, but pass those "small details" in a script parameter defined as part of the button set up.
Worked as advertised! WOW! Thank You. You're right about my set up. I want people to review this block by several dozen metrics and now I can print each look up and it shows the parameters of the look up. Makes me look great.
Happy New Year!
Great help on this post. Where did you learn FM or where do you look for answer to questions? I dabble and would appreciate any insight on developing FM Skills. Also where would I go to look up details on script parameters?
We'll I've been using FileMaker for many years. First place I look is FileMaker help. Another place is right here in the forum. For those new to FileMaker there are books and tutorials available--there are even some on YouTube I'm told. Which of those is the right choice, if any, depends on what prior knowledge and experience you bring to the subject.
Just what I need; however, I can not get the "Set Variables" Options to read as instructed above:
Set Variable [ $$ReportHeader ; Value: Get ( States with No Policyholders ) ]
This the way my script reads:
Set Variable [ $$ReportHeader ; Value: "States with No Policyholders" ]
The "Get" after value is giving me the trouble.
Please give a little more info as how to enter this into my script.
