When you print, make sure to select the "current record" option and you will print only one record and thus only one barcode label.
This is an option you can specify in your Print step in the script and also an option you can select when using Print from the File menu.
Thanks so much! That solved my problem, although now the dymo will spit out a label but won't print anything????
What do you see on your label layout when you go to it and enter preview mode?
Thanks again, when I hit preview instead of print, my barcode shows up.
Thanks so much,
I't try printing to a regular printer as a test. And I'd try printing manually to the Dymo from this layout to rule out issues with the script.
I printed it to my other printer and it prints fine, here is my script. I also printed from Word to the dymo and it works there. It must be something with my script. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
Allow User Abort [ On ]
Go to Layout [ “Barcode Print” (Products) ]
Print [ Current record; Pages: 1 to 1; Orientation: Portrait; Paper size: 8.5" x 11" ] [ Restore: DYMO LabelWriter 450 ]
Go to Layout [ “Record Detail-Products” (Products) ]
Exit Script [ ]
What size is your label?
It's my understanding that Dymo prints smaller labels one label at a time. I can see a paper size of 8.5 x 11 and that looks like too large a page size for printing a barcode label.
You might also test your layout by printing directly from it to your Dymo by going to that layout and selecting Print from the File menu.
Phil, thanks for your help, but I tried what you mentioned above, but the same thing still happens. It just spits out a blank label every time. How do you set up the print layout to be sized just for a 3.5"x1.125".
Thanks so much for any help.
It involves system settings on a windows system where you define the custom paper size for the print server. The custom size is then listed in the paper size list in the print set up dialog. I don't know how you'd set this up with a Mac. I'm suprised that your Dymo didn't install this size automatically when you installed its printer driver.
