Title

Corporate license FMPro 9 cannot open older File Maker files

Post

I have a database used by our department which is accessible with a FMPro4 client (*.fm3) which is on a soon-to-be retired machine/server.  I have been able to "open" this file with the 30-day trial of FM6, and converts to the .fm5 format; however, when I try to open either the "old" .fm3 or the "new" .fm5 file, I get the error message:

(In case image doesn't show up, the text in the message box reads "FileMaker Pro: This command cannot be used by this installation of FileMaker."

Also tried to reach the server location from newly installed FMPro9, but hostname entered does not bring up any results.
