labels and keeping track of it

      Post

I would like to generate file folder size labels for every record in my filemaker pro v.11 database.

I have over 7,000 records and want to keep track off which records have a label.

      How can I do this?

      Thanks

Do you know how to create a labels layout?

Do you know how to print labels?

You can add a field to your records that you can use to record the fact that it has had a label printed. You can use Replace Field Contents to update entire groups of records in one operation. Thus you can pull up a set of records on your labels layout. Printe their labels and then use replace field contents to update this field to show that these records have had a label printed.

Can you provide the steps to do what you are describing?

I know how to create a label layout and how to print labels.

Define a number field: LabelPrinted in this table.

Perform a find for the records for which you want to print labels.

              Print the Labels.

Switch to a layout that displays the labelprinted field.

Enter a 1 in this field.

Use Replace Field Contents from the Records Menu to enter this same value in all the other records for which you just printed a label.

That's how you would do this manually. A scripted method would be much the same.
