Launching .fp7 file from command line
Is it possible to run a .fp7 file from the command line ?
ex. D:\FilemakerPro9\FileMaker Pro Advanced.exe \\networkpath\myfile.fp7
I am using a Windows 7 computer and the following command line works fine on my computer:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\FileMaker\FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced\FileMaker Pro Advanced.exe" "C:\Users\user\Documents\Sample_FM_file.fp7"
... you need to the quotation marks because of the spaces in the paths.
This works only if you want to open a physical file, but if you'd like to open a hosted file it does not work. To open a hosted file from the network with the commandline use:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\FileMaker\FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced\FileMaker Pro Advanced.exe" fmp7://ipaddress/file.fp7
Another nice trick (both on MacOSX and Windows) is to enter "fmp7://ipaddress/file.fp7" into the URL of one of your favorites in your favorite webbrowser .... klik on the icon and filemaker opens with the hosted file from the network.
I cant get this to work with FM12 or FM13 what is the equivilent of "fmp7"
The file extension for FM versions 12-13 is "fmp12".
