In the above example, 38389631 identifies the video to be played, correct?
If you store that value in a field of a record, you can modify the above expression to be:
"data:,<iframe src='http://player.vimeo.com/video/" & Table::videoID & "?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0' width='400' height='225'frameborder='0' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href='http://vimeo.com/" & Table::videoID & "'>Mobile Video Tips and Techniques</a> from <a href='http://vimeo.com/videoschoolvideos'>Vimeo Video School</a> on <a href='http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>"
Where Table::VideoID would be the reference to the field where you store this information.
Thanks PhilModJunk! That worked perfectly!
I know it's been a few years since this question was posted, but I'm trying to do something similar with embedding vimeo videos onto a layout per record.
While it looks like Phil's solution links to the videos properly, Filemaker won't actually play the video from vimeo, only the audio (and the video plays black).
I believe that vimeo hosts videos in mp4 format (h264) and not flash but I could be wrong on this. Does filemaker have any limitations for streaming either codec?
Is your solution still working?
Derek - did you have any luck with this? I'm trying to do something similar to you...however the format/codec is .m3u8 and I get a blank window trying to stream a feed with that codec. Thanks - Joshua
I was able to get h264 video to embed (assuming the client had an active web connection that could reach the source), but I haven't tried any other formats. Basically I had to insert an HTML object with a slightly modified version of vimeo's embed code.
I've not worked with m3u8 playlists in the past, but according to apple it looks like you should be able to insert an html object with a simply link to the playlist.
I believe I'm following what you said...however I was hopeful to display these feeds on an FM layout in the web viewer object. The link to the Apple Developer site strikes me as something on a static HTML/web page...how would I achieve that inside of FM?
